Head of School Update –

Another great week here at PACS! We had another great informational meeting with Not MY Kid – check out www.NotMYKid.org for some useful information. In addition, Ms. Reese and the Drama Club had two amazing performances in our Black Box Theater – Room 107 on Thursday and Friday. High School Musical, Jr. was a great success and Ms. Reese and the cast did an amazing job. Thank you to everyone that came out and supported us!

Kindergarten and 1st grade will begin Iowa Test of Basic Skills tests next week, as well as a continuation of 2nd – 8th grade Scantron testing. Please make sure that your student is coming to school each day for testing well-rested, and on time. This is a great way for teachers and staff to determine the needs of each student for the rest of this year and to start planning for next year’s classes.

As this school year gets closer to its end, please be sure to get your student to school every day. We will continue working hard and moving forward each and every day in order to meet our goal of 1.25 years’ growth. Thank you to all the students, staff, teachers and parents for your continued support throughout the rest of the school year.

Head of School Update – 5/9/14

We had a wonderful week at PACS. Teachers were showered with gifts and food for Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to all the parents, students and staff that helped to make it such an amazing week!  Lots of smiles were going around on Friday afternoon.

This was our first week of Scantron testing, and the scores are showing a great amount of growth. I have to say that our staff and students have worked so hard trying to ensure they reach their goals!  We will begin the PARCC Field Test next week in order to prepare for the coming years of testing.

Be sure to come to our informational meeting presented by Not MY Kid on Wednesday, May 14th at 5:30 PM – presented in Spanish.  This is always a great presentation and provides new information you can use to help protect your kids.

We will also have our annual Spring Play, High School Musical, Jr., on Thursday and Friday, directed by Ms. Reese.  Ms. Reese and the Drama Club always put on a great show.  It is so nice to see just how talented our kids are.  Each year it gets better and better.

Have a great Weekend,

Jim Mosley, Principal/Head of School

What a great week!  Everyone, staff and students alike worked hard for Paragon Night! It was a great time had by all and the Paragon Passport was a huge success.  Ms. Reese and her Drama Club gave everyone in attendance a brief look at the musical coming up in May.  Everyone needs to plan to be here.  We will start our final Scantron assessments of the year next week.  I know students and teachers have been putting in the effort to do their best. Even at this time of year, the passion our teachers and students have is amazing!

We had a successful soccer season which just ended. With soccer ending we have finished our athletics for the year. This was our first year back in the CAA after 7 years. Three of our athletic teams ended up in playoffs and really did an outstanding job. PACS students are the best!  We are looking forward to our 8th grade Washington DC/New York City trip. Fourteen of our eighth graders have been busy fundraising to be able to enjoy this opportunity, where they will get to explore our nation’s capital and all the historical sights of the DC area as well as spend a couple of days in The Big Apple.

It has been an amazing year so far.  I hope everyone knows how great it is to work with such professionals and have the opportunity to be around the best students and parents each and every day.  Don’t forget next week is Teacher Appreciation week.  Be sure to let your child’s teacher know how much you appreciate them.  They are the best!

Head of School Update –

What a busy week!  All of the students worked extremely hard, doing their best on their AIMS and Stanford tests.  I know they were well prepared because PACS teachers are the best.  This year I’ve seen such passion with the teachers making sure their students were ready to excel on the test.  Special thanks go out to the parents, students and staff for a successful AIMS/Stanford testing week.  I believe this will be the best year yet!

The Spring Carnival is Saturday the 19th from 10 – 1 PM.  I know it’s going to be amazing!  The Carnival committee has worked extremely hard putting everything together and I can hardly wait to see it all come together.  Along with the Carnival’s bouncy rides and games, there is a “Best Tasting Salsa” contest and LIVE 101.5 FM will be here providing the background music.  Be sure to watch our staff play against the station in a 101.5 Give Back Basketball game.  I know it will be a great game.

I am so impressed by our staff, students and parents with this week being no exception as we gear up for AIMS next week!  All of our teachers and students have been working extra hard to do their best ever on the AIMS.  We started off the week with academic bowls and it was great to see how much everyone had learned.  The middle school students even beat the teachers! Way to go.

We just recently honored so many students that received Principal’s List, Honor Roll and Student of the month awards.  We have seen such great achievement from our kids, we are so very proud of them. Congratulations for all who were recognized. Looking forward to our next set of scholars to be recognized.

Can’t wait to see you all at the Spring Carnival this Saturday! It’s going to be AMAZING!

Have a great week,

Jim Mosley

Everyone thinks “Not _MY_ Kid” but…

By | Coming Events | No Comments

Not MY Kid is a foundation that offers information and resources on drugs and alcohols to parents, as well as presentations to our 6th-8th grade students on many different topics. PACS and Not MY Kid are proud to offering another Parent Information Night on Thursday, April 25th from 5:45 to 6:45 PM. Please attend the English or Spanish meeting to learn about topics that affect our students! Each parent that attends will get a free Drug Test Kit just for showing up.

At the same time, in a different room, PACS will be showing a family-friendly movie so that parents do not have to worry about child care in order to come to the notMYkid program.
